We had a request for a data acquiring system for benchmarking Agricultural, Construction and Industrial engines.
MadsTech Engineering made the solution!
1: Must work on multiple brands of heavy offroad vehicles
2: Flexible standalone windows software for data-logging
3: Easy to use, graphical interface
4: Easy to point out data at important areas
5: Tool to check for tampering with Engine hours, or emission system
6: Benchmarking of engine performance
7: Benchmarking of engine fuel efficiency
8: Autogenerate a full test-report which can be used as documentation
Automotive CAN protocols
Today all heavy off-road-machines control system are standardized on how their CAN system communicate. This means their communication data is universal and can be logged and decoded. So far MadsTech datalogger software only supports SAE J1939.
MadsTech datalogger support a lot of different hardware manufacturers.
Vector, PEAK and several others. SW is only working only by USB so far.
For performance tuning MadsTech datalogger also supports a function where its possible to inject sensordata directly into CAN-system and log values fully synchronized with the rest of the Vehicle data.
Today MadsTech datalogger supports up to 4 exhaust temp sensors, and 1 dual fuelflow sensor to be added and injected into CAN system.
The software consists of 2 different systems.
First part of the software controls the communication to the vehicle CAN. Its a two-way communication where the SW firstly connects to highest possible Protocol layer required for optimal datalogging.
If a performance test-report is being generated then SW will request ECU performance parameters like EngineRailPressure, InjectedQuantityOfFuel, BoostPressure, ExhaustTemp, RPM etc. up to 50 times each second. The Engine control unit responds by sending these data in return to MadsTech datalogger.
All data is then saved into a TimeTable (.MF4, or .CSV) for later use.
MadsTech Datalogger can also request all active and passive diagnostic trouble codes, and generate a list for export.
A new feature have made it possible to check for electronic vehicle tampering with engine-run hours, and emission systems. It will request a lot of information from several different control units on the vehicle, and compare + compute these to verify vehicle data integrity and vehicle system run modes.
Second part of the MadsTech logging Software will be able to autodetect a dyno-run inside the CAN logging data and create full graphs similar to the dyno results, by only pressing 1 button.
As a nice feature it also support to synchronize dyno-data with CAN-data and make it possible to generate a full performance, and fuel-efficiency test-report of the customers vehicle.
So far we support data from the manufacturers EGGERS and MadsTech.
Check TractorTest.eu for examples of test-reports.
